Welcome to the Complete Freelancer website building video course using WordPress and Oxygen Builder. My name is Fabrizio Van Marciano, and I will be your tutor throughout this course.

A little bit about me

I'm a freelance web designer, front-end developer, blogger, podcaster, and content creator on YouTube. I started my online journey way back in 2006 as a self-representing artist.

In 2009, I transitioned into blogging, digital marketing, and design. After building a successful blogging business at Magnet4Blogging, I then moved my attention to web design and development in 2013, and FVM was born.

Why did I create this course?

I created this course for a few reasons:

First reason: This course was one of the most requested pieces of content from my community at FVM (Readers of my blog and subscribers of my YouTube channel).

I create a lot of mini-tutorials on YouTube with regards to using Oxygen Builder and various other WordPress-related software and technologies for website building.

However, none of those videos go into the nit-gritty details of creating a complete website from start to finish.

This is where this course comes in:

With this website-building video course, I've tried my best to include all of the information needed to create a beautiful freelancer website from start to finish.

Second reason: I know that there are a lot of folks, not just in my community, but in other communities as well that find using tools like WordPress, Oxygen Builder, and related plugins and technologies quite daunting and confusing.

My aim with this course is to simplify everything the best that I can, specifically for none-techies!

So, if you've been looking for an Oxygen Builder video course that will take you by the hands and show you exactly what you need to do, this is it.

Why WordPress and not a third-party website building platform?

I specialize in using WordPress. I know nothing else other than WordPress. I've dedicated the last 10+ years of my life to learning about and working with WordPress.

I realize that there are many website-building tools out there to choose from. It seems like a new one keeps cropping up every so often.

But, WordPress is still the most widely used and flexible website building framework on the internet. There is no doubt about that.

Some may argue that it's not the best and that it's heavily flawed and vulnerable to hackers and all the rest of it.

But, in my opinion, and professional experience, the best is what you make it and no software is resilient to hackers and exploits.

We can all take the best possible precautions when it comes to the security of our websites, but you should not be bullied into believing one platform is the safest in the world... There is no such thing.

WordPress works for me and for my online businesses and has done so for over 15 years. I believe it can work for you too. Using WordPress is by far the most cost-effective way to have a website.

I know what you're thinking. Thats' my reason why I use WordPress, but why should YOU use WordPress and not a website-building tool like Squarespace or Wix?

OK, I hear you -

Here's the biggest reason...

To have full control and owernership of your website and content is critical...

Hosting your own WordPress website might sound like a ball-ache, but it really isn't.

Once it's set up, you don't really have to touch anything else on the server-side (hosting).

And here's the big reason why you should host your own WordPress website:

Control and Ownership.

WordPress is open-source... This means when you create your website with WordPress, using a hosting provider, you are in full control of your domain, your content, your branding, products, and services.

Other than social media and YouTube, I can't imagine myself using any third-party platform for creating and hosting my best content. I want to always have control of my brand, design, and content.

And what do I mean by ownership?

Well, imagine you use a third-party platform, like Wix, for creating your business, publishing content, hosting your products and offers, and marketing.

Then imagine that you are successful and you achieve your goal of building a large audience and customer base, and the business begins to profit.

What happens when or if that third-party platform decides to sell itself out?

Or worst case decides to shut you down for something you've apparently done to violate one of their user/community rules.

I tell you what happens:

You end up with nothing.

You may have created your brand, the content, but you don't own anything, after all, you used a platform that doesn't belong to you.

This is the part that many entrepreneurs often overlook. They forget to read the fine print of some of these website-building platforms. Or think long-term.

You may want to sell your website someday. It can be quite difficult or near impossible to sell a website that's hosted on a platform like Wix.

I don't include Webflow into this because I actually like Webflow and see it as a great alternative to WordPress.

So, in short, your domain, content, products, branding should always belong to you, which is why I prefer to and recommend hosting your own WordPress websites.

Take this course for example. I could have easily published it on a platform like Teachable or Thinkific. But, I decided to create my own WordPress website, make use of the LearnDash plugin and host the course on my own platform.

What is Oxygen Builder and why should you care about using it?

Oxygen Builder is one of the very few all-in-one, premium visual theme builders on the market.

Sure, there are countless page builders out there, but, again, in my opinion, Oxygen Builder stands head and shoulders above everything else for several reasons.

  1. It has countless user-friendly, as well as advanced dev features built-in
  2. It lets you combine visual editing with coding. So, if you're like me and enjoy visual design as well as adding your own custom HTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript, you'll love using Oxygen. If you don't know how to code, that's fine, you can just use the almost-unlimited visual design options provided. The UI in Oxygen is attractive and user-friendly
  3. It's incredibly lightweight. No unnecessary code bloating or gimmick features included that could degrade the performance of your website
  4. It offers a range of responsive design options with multple CSS breakpoints
  5. It's addictive. Once you've found your way around Oxygen Builder, you won't be able to live without it.

Those are just a few reasons why I choose Oxygen Builder. I could go on... Forever... Literally.

And, no. The Oxygen Team or devs did not pay me to say any of this.

Nor did they ask me to write about them in this way. I'm an avid Oxygen user and fan of the product and this is solely my opinion.

OK, enough ranting and chanting on about why WordPress and Oxygen Builder are so wonderful. Let's get back to this video course.

Who is this website building course for?

I created this online video course for the following types of people -
